Start by understanding what actually happens in this space. 'Check whether you qualify for the airdrop' is among the most-used lines in scam funnels. The method is simple: a site posing as a checker asks you to connect, tells you that you qualify, then explains that claiming requires a signature. That signature is an approval handing over control of your tokens, or a transaction sending your assets away. Checking eligibility never requires one.
Always begin at the official documentation, reached from your bookmark or the project's pinned post, and read the conditions: what qualifies, over what period, on which chain, and how claiming works. Conditions are usually written as 'addresses that did X before Y', which is enough for you to judge on your own — look at your own history in an explorer and see whether the qualifying transactions are there.
Where the project does run a checking page, how you reach it matters. Follow the link from the documentation and read the domain of the page that opens. A near-identical spelling, a different ending, or a shortened link from social media is where you stop. And if the page asks for a signature or an approval, leave at that point. Entering an address to look something up is a limited-risk action; signing is not.
When you do reach the stage of claiming, the discipline is the same. Read what your wallet says the signature authorises and confirm what permission it grants.
