What exchange support can and cannot do

In short
Exchange support can generally act only within its own systems and its own ledger. It cannot reverse a transfer already broadcast to a blockchain, nor fix mistakes made at another company or in your own wallet. Knowing where the boundary lies makes your response much faster.

Definition
The range of matters an exchange's support team can technically and contractually address — account status, internal trade records and transfer processing — as distinct from events out on the wider network.
Support handles what the exchange itself knows: account status, trade history, where a deposit or withdrawal currently sits, identity verification and lifting restrictions. These are answerable because the information is theirs.
Once a transfer has been broadcast to a blockchain, however, the exchange has no way to reverse it either. Sending to the wrong address or over an unsupported network is treated as unrecoverable in principle. If the destination is another exchange, you must approach that operator, and whether anything can be done is up to them.
Events in a self-custodied wallet are also out of scope. Granting a malicious approval, signing on a fake site, or entering a seed phrase somewhere are not things an exchange can undo.
When you do contact support, having the what, the when, and the relevant order or transaction IDs ready moves things along. And note: genuine support will never ask for your private key, seed phrase or password.
