Crypto exchanges are not interconnected, so trading on a venue means pre-funding it. At scale, capital ends up scattered and inefficient, while the trader carries the failure risk of each venue separately. Prime brokers exist to consolidate that structure.

A client maintains one relationship yet reaches many venues, with collateral managed centrally — a framework long established in traditional markets, carried over to crypto.
